It’s the Most Wonderful Tech Hat of the Year#WearableWednesday
I frequently visit the FastLED Users group to check out what people have been making. If you aren’t familiar with FastLED, it’s another library that can be used with Neopixels for great animations. People frequently post lamp designs, art installations and other large matrix work. This time I found an extraordinary hat with the perfect holiday tribute from maker Kieran Bingham. I’m sure he is blushing from all the attention, but it just shows how people run with open source projects and make them their own. Here’s what Kieran had to say about his project:
_Thanks to FastLED and some previous top hats posted on here, for Christmas dinner parties I’ve made a Christmas Tree Top Hat. Everyone loves it and wants to know where I got it from, and then they are amazed when they find out I’ve made it myself. So much better with FastLED!_
There are 600 pixels here forming the colorful tree and snow flurry which are controlled by an ESP8266. It lasts for six hours of party time with a phone charger battery pack.
